Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard has announced that he is forgoing his remaining eligibility and entering his name into the NBA Draft.

In a post on X, Sheppard said, "Kentucky is home, Kentucky will always be home. However, there is another part of my dream... to play basketball in the NBA."

Sheppard talked about how special it has been to wear the Blue and White and represent Big Blue Nation, but he thinks now was the time to test the waters of the NBA. He thanked the fans for supporting him and invited them to follow him on his journey into the professional ranks.

Many had hoped he would stick around at least one more year and play for his father's college roommate, new UK Coach Mark Pope. However, Sheppard is projected to go early in the first round of the draft, maybe even as a lottery pick.

There is no denying that Sheppard brought more excitement to the Kentucky faithful than anyone in recent memory.
